Training for Employment CIC - known to its Partners and Stakeholders as TfE - is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, originally established as an Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) in 2011. TfE operates as a Social Enterprise and has a proven track record in helping disadvantaged individuals in Yorkshire to learn the skills needed to go into self-employment or to start a small business.

Training for Employment has held the Matrix Standard, a quality standard for providers of Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) services. TfE has held the Investors in People (IIP) accreditation. IIP is a framework of best practice for transforming business performance through people.

Whilst delivering its Business Skills Course for North Yorkshire County Council, TfE recently achieved it's second 'GOOD' grade in an independent inspection to OFSTED standards.

TfE provides self-employment courses via funding from local councils and grant funding bodies, and offers redundancy support to organisations wishing to restructure. Training for Employment has set up and run Enterprise Clubs and Work Clubs for JC+ in North and West Yorkshire, with funding from the BIG Lottery Fund and DWP. Other adult learning and skills projects have been set up with European Social Fund (ESF) and Local Authority funding.

The Director of TfE, John McGaughran, is a Fellow of the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE) and holds a Level 7 in Business Improvement and Contract Management. John is a qualified tutor in the lifelong learning sector, holding a Level 3 in Education & Training. He has previously run other businesses as a sole trader and as a Member in a Partnership.

Mr McGaughran also has experience in welfare programmes, and in business training and support. Over the last nine years he has worked closely with Job Centre Plus on DWP Enterprise and Self-Employment schemes such as New Deal and New Enterprise Allowance, and has run a Community Learning project for adult learners on a pilot project for North Yorkshire County Council.
